Ship building charts print
Elegant marine engraving depicting ship building, mounted and framed under glass; plate number 41 from Encyclopedie Methodique: Marine by Denis Diderot and Jean Le Rond d’Alembert, French 1783−87.
Condition: Antique — old fold in the print and some wear to the frame, otherwise fine
Georgian period mainly refers to the second half of the 18th century and up to the 1820s. The style was predominantly neo-classical, that looked back at the ancient Greece and Rome and used those elements in design and decoration. Most Georgian items have straight and very clean lines and elegant repetitive floral patterns.
