Style note — many household products designed in the Mid-Century Modern style were manufactured using new and unexpected materials – homewares in chrome, nickel, aluminium and plastic as well as plywood for furniture. They allowed creating new shapes on an industrial scale and were easy to use.
Facts of Lavish Cool history — tax on tea was so high in the 18th century Britain, that smuggling was a common practice. By 1780 most of the tea consumed was illegally imported.
