Spectacular pair of antique Italian large maiolica vases by Angelo Minghetti, late 19th century. Of a heavy baluster shape, each handle in the form of two coiled snakes supported by Pan head masks. Hand painted with classical scenes on one side and a classical landscape on the other. Each marked on the base.
Minghetti vases of this size and with snake coiled handles are rare.
Size: approximately 47.5 cm high and 26 cm wide / approximately 18 3/4" high and 10 1/4" wide
Condition: View all images. One vase has one snake head missing on the left handle (see images) and one snake coil repaired on the right handle with the glaze missing on the repair spots (see images). The other vase - looks like the foot came apart previously and was repositioned, has some glaze chips. Also please assume that both vases have surface wear and glaze chips.
