Rare silver plated woven bread basket or fruit serving bowl, by Christofle, from the famous Kit-Cat London club; vintage French Art Deco early 1920s. Kit-Cat was the top London night club of the jazz period.

Art Deco style was a main step towards the modern product design, as we know it today. It replaced the nature inspired Art Nouveau and instead drew its inspiration from the age of machinery, the automobile, the moving pictures and the whole industrial progress in general; hence the prevalence of geometric forms in Art Deco items.
