2 rosewood chairs
Spectacular and very elegant pair of Art Nouveau chairs, exceptionally high quality make, with inlaid rosewood bands, carved and inlaid back, newly upholstered Art Nouveau fabric seats; antique English Victorian 1890−1900. Stylistically the chairs are similar to the furniture that was retailed by Liberty & Co during that period.
Condition: Antique — minor wear to the wood, new upholstery
As a major international style, in different countries Art Nouveau had different names. For example, it was called Jugendstil in Germany, Secession in Austria, Stile Liberty in Italy and Modern in Russia. Essentially this was a new art and design, breaking away from the old, traditional aesthetics.
- 94.5 cm high x 41.5 cm deep x 45 cm wide; 43 cm high to the seat
How to care
Scratches on solid wood furniture are easily repaired by scratch cover polish. We like the Rustins multi-colour - test on small discreet area first!
