Rare tall candlestick in polished brass, in the shape of a fine Corinthian column. The base inscribed The Charitable Brothers of St Patrick. Antique British, Neo-Classical style, Georgian period from the late 18th century. The inscription is probably a slightly later addition.

Condition: scratches, dented surface

Size: Wide: 11.5 cm Height: 29 cm

Style notes — Georgian period mainly refers to the second half of the 18th century and up to the 1820s. The style was predominantly neo-classical, that looked back at the ancient Greece and Rome and used those elements in design and decoration. Most Georgian items have straight and very clean lines and elegant repetitive floral patterns.
