Style note — Art Deco was dominant in the 1920s, 30s and 40s. It originated in France, and is short for Arts Decoratifs, inspired by the 1925 Paris world fair “International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts”. The style was dominant in architecture and the everyday design, including homewares and home decorations.

Facts of Lavish History is cool — prior to tea, the most popular British drinks were ale, gin and coffee. Beer Street and Gin Lane cartoons from 1751 by William Hogarth illustrate that very well.
