View condition. Classical flask shaped decanter in dark green moulded glass, set with a handle and a metal cork lined stopper, ideal for serving port or sherry dessert wines; antique English Georgian early 1800s. The body crack by the handle is an old one and was caused during making of the decanter, when a hot glass handle was affixed to the cooler body. The crack is internal and does not affect the structure of the decanter.

Style notes — Georgian period mainly refers to the second half of the 18th century and up to the 1820s. The style was predominantly neo-classical, that looked back at the ancient Greece and Rome and used those elements in design and decoration.
