Exceptionally rare papier mache playing cards tray, black with painted and gilded floral decoration, inscribed twice Knave of Diamonds. Antique English Late Georgian style, William IV period from the 1830s.

Style notes — Georgian period mainly refers to the second half of the 18th century and up to the 1820s. The style was predominantly neo-classical, that looked back at the ancient Greece and Rome and used those elements in design and decoration.
